    Advanced Studies in Pure Mathematics
    Volume: 812019; 419 pp
    MSC: Primary 35; 42; Secondary 45; 49; 80

This volume contains the proceedings of the international conference on Asymptotic Analysis for Nonlinear Dispersive and Wave Equations, held in September 2014 at the Department of Mathematics, Osaka University, Osaka, Japan.

The conference was held in honor of Professor Nakao Hayashi (Osaka University), on the occasion of his 60th birthday, and includes the latest results (as of 2017) related to the fields of nonlinear partial differential equations of hyperbolic and dispersive type. In particular, the asymptotic expansion of solutions for those equations has been the main contribution of Professor Hayashi and his collaborators.

This volume contains 18 papers related to the asymptotic analysis and qualitative research paper concerning the problems of nonlinear wave equations and nonlinear dispersive equations, such as nonlinear Schrödinger equations, the Hartree equation, the Camassa-Holm equation, and the Ginzburg-Landau equations. In one of the papers, the outstanding method developed by Professor Hayashi and his collaborators is introduced by one of his main collaborators, P.I. Naumkin.

This volume is suitable for any student and researcher who are starting their research on the asymptotic analysis of nonlinear wave and dispersive equations and want to learn the outlined theory of these fields.

Published for the Mathematical Society of Japan by Kinokuniya, Tokyo, and distributed worldwide, except in Japan, by the AMS.

Volumes in this series are freely available electronically 5 years post-publication.
